Blade & Butterfly

Senshu is all bravado and bragging, and Yuna wants nothing to do with him. But they must work together as blade-masters, a forced partnership. In the background, secrets linger that will bring them face to face with their own hearts.

The blade-masters stand at the edge, humans and fairies working together to keep the borders of the empire safe from the horrific unnaturals.

                                    __________

Yuna is disgusted by the blade-masters’ newest recruit. Senshu jokes, flirts, refuses to practice real swordsmanship, and generally makes a fool of himself and, as her fellow ensign, of her. He will not even try to get along with his companion fairy, Hykka. Born as she was into a high noble family, only her obligations as a blade-master could force her to put up with someone so low.

Senshu’s bluster earns him no favor with Yuna, but he cannot risk letting her escape him. Never in all the years he has carried the burden of his lengthy blade has anyone else looked so much like . . . her. He knows Yuna cannot understand the shades of memory that plague him, but maybe, just maybe, she can help him feel alive again.
